Katy + Craig {by liz and kristie}

Kristie and I had the pleasure of photographing Katy and Craig’s gorgeous wedding day over Memorial Day Weekend! They both got ready at the Moonrise Hotel in the Loop – such a cool hotel. We have been there a few times already this year and the rooms are really fun and different! Kristie started with Craig and the guys while I hung out with Katy and the girls. Everyone was calm and in high spirits! We set up a first look for Katy and Craig at Moonrise and then headed off to Forest Park for a few romantic shots followed by a trip to Wash U where the ground was less mushy for the ladies. The ceremony and reception both took place at Norwood Hills Country Club where Katy’s family have been members for years. This was my first time shooting there and hopefully not my last! It was a beautiful affair from beginning to end.

Ok, get ready for some serious detail action folks.  NOTHING was forgotten or left uncustomized at this fabulous, tropically inspired event designed and coordinated by Shayna Laiderman of St. Louis Wedding Consultants. If I try to show you every little detail this is going to take awhile. Not to mention the time commitment visitors will have to make once they get in. Well, I’m going for it! Consider yourself warned! Thanks to Kristie for shooting with me – I don’t think I could have covered everything on my own!

I think Katy likes her bouquet from Sisters Flowers! Seriously though, this was the “out and about” bouquet. The one she actually carried down the aisle…there are no words. Just let me say that I would have to complete P90X to carry that thing.

I love shiny things. And I love shoes. And I love it when both of my loves become one.

Pretty Katy!

One of my favorite portraits Katy.

And a little Craig highlight…

Kristie shot this in all different colors using light from the TV in the background reflecting off of the silver end table. Seriously, there is a blue version, a purple version, a red-ish version but this was my fave. Very creative miss Kristie!

In the shot on the right: We have quarantined poor Craig while we get Katy prepped for their first look. It’s that or we just like to torture grooms for no reason. Which in itself is a highly amusing idea, but alas, this time we had a purpose!

Yep, they belong together!

Another one of my absolute favorites from the day…

A little special congrats at the Pageant in the loop!

The pretty girls…

And the hooligans… (kidding of course!)

Love!

And off to Norwood Hills Country Club for the main event! Beautiful chuppah by Sisters Flowers. And love the natural straw fans.

A little table at the entrance in remembrance of Katy’s father Terry.

Tropical linens from BBJ Linen on tall tables set up for cocktail hour.

Kristie caught this beautiful shot of Katy on her way to get MARRIED!

Craig as Katy comes into the tent. No nerves. Just totally content and happy. The range of emotions on wedding days makes me smile. Especially the good stuff. (I said that because I found myself smiling at the computer just now. If someone saw me they would send me to the looney bin.)

This is Kristie’s angle of the moment Katy and her brother took their first steps out. Love it.

Beautiful! Katy – I have no idea how you are holding up that bouquet. Even if it was for only 20 – 30 seconds. Adrenaline?!

Awwwww…

It always gets me when the guys cry.

It’s official!

I love this one too!

Immediately after the ceremony, we hopped on a golf cart to head out to hole 6 for a photo in front of Katy’s dad’s tree. What you need to know about the next photo is that this was my suggestion to hold hands around the tree. The group felt this was way too serious for Terry’s liking. That if he had been there he would have been the life of the party, drink in hand, toasting, hugging and leading the celebration of Katy’s and Craig’s marriage! So although this looks serious, the smiles and laughs far outweigh any tears. And I love it.

Back to the party just before it starts drizzling! Let’s jump in on some more of those gorgeous details shall we? Very cool placecard table.

Rattan chargers at the placesettings. Love the added texture to the table. Plus layered, round die cut menus from M Haley Design don’t hurt either.

Little favors in jute bags.

Yes, even customized drink umbrellas!

Gorgeous cake and custom M&M’s from inside the little favor bags.

Yes, custom flip flops for guests to comfortably dance the night away!

Ok, so Kristie took this perfect macro shot of an orchid. And I just really like it. This is a little self indulgent for a blog post but I’m doing it anyway!

M-I-Z….Z-O-U! Kick that Jayhawk butt Truman! And then treat yourself to a bottle of custom wine courtesy of Katy and Craig. :)

Ok, time for a room shot. Pin lighting and blue and green uplighting (and all of the draping) from the masters at Exclusive Events.

Great toasts!

And some fancy footwork!

Norwood Country Club at night.

One of the outdoor tents at night. Love what some draping and lighting can do!

Neat cabana-like set up out in the main tent.

Back in for some garter action!

A lovely rendition of Etta James “At Last” by a friend.

And a little bit of sparkler fun to round out the night just right! Congratulations you two!
