Love, love LOVE days that mix together cultures and traditions! Alice and Kent had not one but two ceremonies. A traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony at the Missouri Athletic Club followed by a Christian wedding ceremony Christ Church Cathedral in downtown St. Louis, MO. And it is all stunning! Let me talk you through this one…starting with the gorgeous details. The velvet ruby red flats Alice wore were perfection! Per tradition, her mom combed her hair with these red combs I styled in with the invitation. The color red symbolizes happiness, prosperity and good luck.
The second set of shimmery silver details below!
Each individual handmade stitch on Alice’s tea ceremony gown was exquiste.
Preparing for ceremony number one…
Kent hand stamped her letter with their wax seal that morning.
Mother and daughter moments are always one of my favorites.
There was no mirror in the room so Kent had to tie his bow tie sans mirror. Now THAT takes talent.
And a good friend holding your iphone up as a mirror doesn’t hurt either.
So dapper!
When the guys were ready, they headed over to the girls and Alice’s room. They didn’t actually scoot. Which is a very good wedding day decision. How many of you know someone who has had a serious injury on one of these things?!
When the guys arrived the girls were ready! For the groom to get to the bride, he and his gents must complete feats of strength. In this case the first feat was limbo!
Next up, a shot of vinegar (eewww!)
And some extremely spicy noodles…
Last but not least pushups while chanting “I Love Alice!”
And he has been granted access to his bride!
Let’s go have some tea shall we?
All of the parents were honored.
We took a few portraits of them with Alice in her traditional Chinese attire…so beautiful.
One of my personal favorites…
Although I always enjoy a good laugh.
The guys headed to the church and Alice changed into this stunning gown.
LOVE.
Here comes the bride!
OMG the light coming in here is perfection on these two.
Red doors! More good luck!
Such a perfect day.
Kent was able to grant us access into the Muny for this special photo.
Their other two furry family members met up with us for a few minutes and posed for photos.
And our final stop of the day…back to the Missouri Athletic Club to celebrate Alice and Kent!
This room is so stunning, but still not nearly as stunning as the bride.
Congratulations to you both! I hope your wedding day was all you dreamed and more! We were honored to capture it for you. With love, Liz + Mer
