This blog is a little extra special…it’s a two-fer. Not only was it an absolute pleasure to photograph Anna and Pat’s teary-eyed, smile filled, sun-shining-down-on-everyone perfectly beautiful wedding day, but we also got to experience the lovely Cedar Creek property and it’s brand new beautiful event barn! And by brand new I mean some of the very first people to step foot in it. Cedar Creek has been in Pat’s family for years and it’s history even includes a St. Louis Cardinals pitcher! If you feel like a trip down memory lane you can learn more about Cedar Creek’s past here. They did such a great job on the new barn – I can’t wait to share it with you!
I’m not sure exactly how Anna and Pat actually met, but I’m guessing they have some roots. Their families literally live down the street from each other in Clayton. So as Von and I started our day we were really only less than a mile apart photographing the guys and the girls. What are the chances?! Anna carried on the tradition of wearing the wedding gown that was also worn by her mother and grandmother. With a few wee alterations. I love family traditions. :)
Neat little stack of bridesmaids gifts all in a row.
Anna’s mom and sister helped her into her gown.
Success! High fives all around!
Getting through a layer of fluff to find your feet can be challenging. I imagine it’s similar to being 9 months pregnant perhaps?
Love this moment.
A few photos with Pat and the guys finishing up before leaving for the church…
Fist bump. Good to go.
Although Pat and the guys walked to the church…
…he and Anna had this beauty to take them to Cedar Creek afterwards!
Our Lady Lourdes is one of my favorite Catholic churches in St. Louis. It is pretty inside and out!
I think I see a little glistening tear in Pat’s right eye…
One of my favorite moments of the day.
I cannot for the life of me remember what happened during the ring exchange that was this funny. But I have like 20 photos of it. Did it not fit quite right perhaps?
Hugs are the best.
And we’re off to Cedar Creek!
Whole thing all to ourselves. A giant playground filled with trees, lakes, barns, a mini western town, bridges, fire pits, golf course and lots and lots of booze. ;)
Tell me you don’t want to hang out on that deck right now.
We didn’t have time for a round of golf. Maybe next time. Who am I kidding?! I’m even terrible at mini-golf!
Love this vintage buggy!
And this Mercury Cougar XR7. Some of my favorite photos of these two are in this car.
Ok – time to head back and meet up with the wedding party!
Guys being guys.
There’s something sexy about a man with a bouquet. And no head. ;)
Gorgeous day for a pre-party on the deck soaking in some rays.
Buggy re-purposed as gift table. Genius!
Now let’s head into the barn. You know those cool metal chairs that are so hip right now? Yep, they are included when you have your event at Cedar Creek. I’m kind of a chair snob so I consider this a major perk!
This beautiful barn can hold up to 300 for a seated dinner.
The tables all had these tiny little whiskey bottles for everyone to taste! Blue Wing Whiskey was made by Anna’s great Grandfather’s distillery back before prohibition put them under. Damn prohibition. Crazy Americans. So they used the original Blue Wing artwork for the bottle label! My favorite part of all of this is a little behind the scenes story Anna shared with me: her dad bottled and corked all of those little bottles at their home in Clayton and sampled plenty of them along the way before finishing the project and announcing that he needed to go to bed. ;)
I really want to transport myself to this spot right now. Maybe if I think really hard and click my heels…
The back of the barn and it’s beautiful deck.
Western Town at night with another fire pit blazing away.
Nice face Pat. :)
Griffin and the Gargoyles packing the floor like usual.
These two brought a tear to my eye. I hope I love my husband this much after this many years. Congratulations on so many years together!
These little guys had more of that wonderful whiskey in them. If you managed to stay sober at this wedding reception then you put in a very concerted effort. And we can’t be friends. JK! ;)
Thank you guys SO MUCH for sharing your wedding day and your special home away from home with us! We are so honored to have experienced it with you! With love, Liz + Von
