You guys, I did a thing. The thing really has nothing to do with this perfect and lovely winter wedding except to explain perhaps why it took so long to get here. Let me get to the point. I was born with bunions. Those things no one really wants to talk about because it’s basically openly admitting you have ugly feet? Yeah those. I remember when I was a kid my gymnastics teammates would look at my feet and ask “Why do your feet look messed up?!” They didn’t bother me when I was young, but as I aged they started hurting worse and worse. Now, I’m 5’2″, so if you think I wasn’t also wearing sky high heels through my teens and 20’s you would be sorely mistaken. (I just wanted to be “average” height! And for my legs to look model-esque. Some dreams are literally out of reach.)
But then the pain started to become unbearable. And even more unbearable. As of last year it was keeping me awake for hours in the middle of the night. That was the final straw that brought me to the thing…a few weeks ago I had a bunionectomy. Like most things in my life, I just dove in. (It hurts, I’m done, let’s fix it. Now.) And as often happens when I dive in, I may have underestimated this little surgery. I’ll save the rest of this story for the next wedding. May has well spread my ugly feet stories over multiple beautiful wedding days! Someone has to bring these fairy tales back to reality lol. ;)
Caitlin is a gorgeous human with perfect skin who also happens to be of fabulously average height allowing her to substitute adorably sparkly Kate Spade tennies for those sky high heels on her wedding day! And that gown…beautiful beading and layers of blush tulle…swoon. Although designers keep putting colorful wedding gowns out there year after year, so few brides embrace the non-white options. I for one LOVE them! (I’m still waiting for someone to wear one of those black Vera’s. Can someone do that please? For me?!)
Scott is such a cool, fun, down to earth and easy to get along with guy. The kind of person that doesn’t have any enemies. Think of that person you know who has no enemies and that is Scott! These two and their University of Dayton crowd had such a memorable day! Allow me to take you back to December when we were all cutting down Christmas trees, wrapping gifts, drinking hot cocoa and cuddling under warm blankets by the fire. Happy spring everyone! :)
I sometimes take a pair of shears with me on my way to a wedding day. Just in case I find a perfect little branch along the way…
The Four Seasons St. Louis did not have a great spot to hang a bunch of wedding dresses, but I actually may love this shot of all of these cute personalized hangers laying together even more!
All of the lovely ladies!
LOVE.
I’ve seen this house before! I shot Scott’s sister’s wedding earlier last year and she also got ready at their parent’s beautiful home. I didn’t get to go back because Meredith had this one covered, but it was fun to see how she used the same space. More than that it was SO FUN seeing so many familiar faces! We love running into so many friendly faces at weddings.
I love how much University of Dayton alums love the University of Dayton.
Perfect little in between moment.
Scott met up with Caitlin at the Four Seasons for their first look and a few portraits around the super modern space.
This looks warm and and inviting, but remember this is December. It was SO cold and windy up there!
Off to the park with the party!
I did not purposely put the tallest guy next to the shortest guy. But he is one of the best men, so that is where he belongs!
Caitlin and Scott’s reception took place at the Mahler Ballroom – directly across the street from our studio! It was my first time there since a major renovation and they did a splendid job! We took a few photos there while we still had some light and then headed over to the Jewel Box in Forest Park for the ceremony.
This deco glass building really is one of the gems of our city.
Love!
And we’re off to cocktail hour! Woot!
Dance floor open!
Congratulations to you both! Everything came together so beautifully. Extra big thanks to the Jackson’s for allowing us into their lives not once, but TWICE in the same year. So many reasons to celebrate in 2018! With love, Liz + Mer
