So excited to share this one today! Ellen is a complicated woman (aren’t we all really?!) She manages corporate events for a living, so as you can imagine, she has pretty exquisite taste when it comes to decor and such. But when it came to their wedding photography, Ellen and Chris were not into details. So you won’t see my usual rings, shoes, dress, etc at the beginning of this post. They wanted less “things” and more of a photo-journalistic approach focusing on everyone having a great time, all day long. And I was happy to oblige! It’s my favorite part of what I do actually. Now, don’t think for a second we didn’t capture the beautiful set up at Lumen that evening. Von DeVore was my special guest photographer for this day and many of these fabulous shots are thanks to her wonderful eye. And I bring you…Ellen and Chris.
This little guy? Adorable.
Finishing touches…kinda love that the mother of the bride wore a red peplum gown!
Simple, elegant and unique with silvery embroidered lace details. This gown as meant for you Ellen!
No nerves or drama in this room. Just lots of laughs!
Von caught Chris and the guys tying those handsomely striped bow ties. Von may or may not have focused on the wrong “groom” for the first few minutes. They may or may not have made fun of her for it all day. ;)
Awwwww…
It became clear to me throughout this day that Chris is the kind of guy that is everyone’s best friend. And it was obvious why. He makes everyone around him feel comfortable and exudes this kind of relaxed fun vibe. Next time you guys are in town can we all go out for a beer?!
And we’re off to take photos in the fall foliage!
You guys are too fun. Everyone reading this totally wants to hang out with you.
Chris likes music, so we hit a record store on historic Cherokee Street.
I asked them to each pick a cover with the artist’s head on it. This is what they came up with. Loudon Wainwright III is crying and Bruce is contemplating what he’s just done. Hee! ;)
Very few serious photos in this set. I’m totally down with that.
Mom and daughters.
LOVE this one Von!
This is just the first glimpse of the amazing florals provided by Wildflowers…more to come…
The Shrine of St. Joseph flanked by the colors of fall. Always gorgeous, but extra pretty this day.
Here comes the bride!
Down the aisle and straight to the trolley…time to party!
Lumen at night.
The unique and stunning reception decor included table lamps, touches of citron and arrangements with cabbage and artichokes.
So, when I asked Ellen for all of her wedding vendors so that I could credit them here, it occurred to me that the creator of the cake was missing. When I asked her for that info this is how the conversation went down. Me: Did you want to credit cake? Ellen: Actually, the cake wasn’t ours! We aren’t really sure where it came from! ;) Me: Wait, you’re telling me that you just had a random cake at your reception?! Ellen: Yep! They think the bakery dropped it off at the wrong venue!
So, Ellen and Chris, here is a photo of the random cake that appeared at your reception. Von and I both made sure it was well photographed. ;) My apologies to the actual owner of this cake, but this is one of those crazy wedding stories that I will never forget!
Happy toasts.
Time to open the dance floor.
And boogie with The Fabulous Motown Review. ;)
SO much fun! Thanks for sharing your day with us! With love, Liz
