I’ve been doing this for 6 years now, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Emily and Jon were my first Jewish wedding couple! I really, really enjoyed it. The Rabbi was kind enough to explain everything that was going on to us outsiders through the whole thing. And can I just say I love the chair dance thing? There’s special bread, a glass, a special marriage contract and all kinds of neat things. I believe you will agree that the bride was beautiful, the groom was a troublemaker and the whole wedding party was dressed in my favorite color – GREEN! Mother of the Bride Beryl (pronounced like pearl with a B…took me awhile to get it right) was kind enough to leave me a voicemail after the event to thank me for everything I did, but really, it should be me saying thank you. Thank you for letting me into your lives for a day and giving me a great new experience!
Getting ready – my favorite time of day. Love the feel of the relaxing silouette.
Really different dress with a shiny belt…I love shiny things.
Shoes! Need I say more?
Again with the shiny things…I’m like a raccoon. I’m just drawn to them.
Finishing touch.
Seeing each other for the first time. Emily is walking up behind him.
A glimpse at the beautiful bouquet and now we are off to the park for some fun photos! Everyone was so natural, easygoing and happy with big beautiful smiles. These could practically be wedding billboard picks.
Signing of the special marriage contract. It is not legal but it is a contract between the couple and the families. Seems more important than the government version when you think about it.
The thing they get married under is a hippa (which I have no idea how to spell but it is ingrained in my head because it is said and chanted at least 50 times during the ceremony.)
The ring exchange is done differently and I think I like it better. Each person puts their OWN ring on showing that they are entering into this committment willingly…or something like that. Don’t quote me!
Married!
Mmmmm…cake. Just looking at this activated my sweet tooth and now I have to go dig through my cabinets for something scrumptious…back in a minute.
This is a totally self indulgent pick (as they would say on American Idol). I just LOVE my macro lens sometimes!
I swear that Jon makes the exact same face now as when he was 1. Normally I think people are crazy when they talk about babies looking like adults, but seriously.
See what I mean by troublemaker?!
Ok, maybe not a troublemaker in this one but certainly a ham!
Great toasts with a few laughs…
And a few tears.
The parents of the bride also made a nice toast and talked about the special bread that everyone tears off and shares. I can’t for the life of me remember what this is called but here’s a photo.
Chair dance!
Uh-oh…down he goes. This thing’s dangerous!
Beautiful day – congrats you two!
Kristie, these are so great! That bride is STUNNING! All the details just gorgeous!
Dude Kim! Kristie gets credit for all of the good stuff! But thank you. :) (liz)
Amazing Liz! I could not be happier. I can’t wait to see the rest of them. Love your work. Thank you for capturing all of these moments.
Awesome wedding shots Liz! And you were cracking me up with your commentary “raccoon”. (kristie)
Absolutely beautiful work…you couldn’t ask for a more beautiful subject to photograph though. I love them! Keep Oct. 9th, 2010 open, Liz- I will be contacting you for our wedding (2nd Bridesmaid from the left in B/W shot)
Emily and Jon – what a beautiful couple and what a beautiful wedding day. May you both always be as happy as you were on your wedding day!!
