I didn’t grow up here, but I think at this point I would call myself a south city girl. I mean not deep south, but south-ish. This wedding actually encompasses two of my very favorite south city neighborhoods: Lafayette Square and Historic Soulard! When I moved to St. Louis back in 2001 my very first apartment was on 9th Street in Soulard. I lived there for nearly 4 years in my early 20’s and have SO MANY awesome memories from that time. As much as I loved the atmosphere of Soulard, I could never get enough of the architecture in Lafayette Square. Lucky for me, Jess’ parents live in Lafayette Square, so I started out there taking photos of Jess and the girls getting ready followed by pretty portraits in Lafayette Square Park! Then after a short heat/rain break (thank you saint louis weather) at Square One Brewery we headed to the beautiful St. John Nepomuk church in Soulard (just two blocks from my old apartment) for their traditional Catholic ceremony. Their reception at the Saint Louis Art Museum was just a cherry on top of a perfect wedding day! Let’s start with that beautiful Lafayette Square architecture…maybe I’ll get to live in one of these someday! Honey? Thoughts?!
Danielle Erb did her usual amazing job making Jess look flawless! Not that it was tough. ;) PS – you two could TOTALLY be related. It has been discussed over here and we all agree. If not sisters then at least cousins.
Thoughtful flowers from Joe on the dining room table.
Everyone was ready for a great day!
Jess’ dress skimmed her curves perfectly and the cathedral veil was the perfect touch.
So pretty!
Off we go to see Joe!
Jess’ bouquet was classic, loose and lovely. Always love the work of Barb from Bloomin’ Buckets!
I really love long veils and the soft texture they add to photos. Thanks for braving the humidity for a few final shots you two!
Just a little laid back fun at Square One before the ceremony.
St. John Nepomuk
We may not have the best weather in the STL, but we are lucky to have so many gorgeous churches here. Refer to Exhibit 1…
Married!
I love it when the guests cheer the parents of the couple as loud or even louder than the couple. I mean, they wouldn’t have made it there without them right?!
The Saint Louis Art Museum (lovingly referred to as SLAM) drenched in pale pink uplighting in Sculpture Hall. And Barb even used my favorite peonies to match!
Lovely cake from Lubeley’s
A little after dinner dancing to round out the perfect day.
Congratulations to you both! Thanks for giving me an excuse to hang out around my old stomping grounds for the day. Everything was lovely! With love, Liz
