KIM + MIKE {by liz}

I love people who embrace their “inner nerd.” That’s one of the many reasons I love my own husband. He subscribes to Scientific American (I think he only understands about 50% of it) and he loves it. I have a random minor in chemistry and actually think that solving math problems is fun. There is something satisfying about working through logical steps towards a right or wrong answer (NOT how I approach photo-taking for the most part!) I appreciate the general lack of gray area present in science. There is just so much of it in every other aspect of life.

These two on the other hand take intelligence to a whole new level. I won’t even try to tell you what they do, but it’s the equivalent of what most of us use as idioms such as “…it’s not rocket science…” When I asked them to stand under a spot where a tree created a “pretty arc”, a groomsmen chimed in with the trigonometric (I’m just guessing here) equivalent. It makes me smile! And want to go back to school because I’m pretty sure my brain has decided to purge most of that information and I want it back.

The trees were in their final week of blooming, but we found a gorgeous row of them for Kim and Mike’s first look and portraits. Much unlike this past Saturday, the weather totally cooperated with us, and we were able to take some fun and quirky shots out in the park. One might involve a Superman t-shirt. Just sayin’.

Let’s start with one of my favorite times of day…hanging with the girls during the finishing touches!

Kim’s OTHER love of her life…Harley the pretty puppy!

Window air conditioning units generally tend to make me crazy.  I usually have a tough time figuring out how to keep them out of my shot.  But in this case, the air from the unit was blowing Kim’s tendrils gently away from her face and I couldn’t get enough of it!

Meeting up with Mike and the guys in the park for a few shots before the girls arrived.

First look!

Ahhhh…perfect setting.  Beautiful (and handsome) group!

There is always time for a little bit of silliness.

Followed by beauty.

Kim’s idea – so cute!  Harley is such a good dog…looking right at the camera and smiling.  Why won’t my dogs do that?!

Kim’s hero.

Off to St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in south city!

Can you tell this little one’s mama is a professional photographer?  That is the most natural fake smile I have ever seen on a child Miss Trish Koch!

Married!

Straight down the aisle and off to the party at Hendri’s!

The grooms cake might have overshadowed the actual wedding cake for me.  It is awesome.  I talked about it for weeks.

A successful wedding sparkler shot experiment to end the evening.  Congratulations Kim and Mike!  Thanks for letting me tag along on your perfect day!
