March 28th. That’s the date we are about to revisit. It was Kirsten and JD’s original wedding date. Does anyone remember what the world was like on March 28th? We hadn’t quite made it to a stay at home order yet…we were limited to groups of 10 people or less. I didn’t own a mask. The toilet paper shortage had just started. My son was basically getting an “extra week” of spring break. In the state of Missouri, confirmed cases were at 670 and nine people had died from COVID-19. The stimulus bill was signed into law the day before. No one was baking bread yet. Got it?
Kirsten and JD were supposed to be getting married at the gorgeous Graham Chapel on Washington University’s campus followed by a reception at the new, hip Hotel Saint Louis. They were my first wedding to be affected by Coronavirus and we still had no idea what the world would have in store. These two were ready to be married, so they did it! With only close family by their side (well, actually 6 feet away!) they tied the knot on a patio outside of their Clayton condo and guests joined them on zoom and Facebook live. It was sweet and unique. I will never, ever forget their wedding day for the rest of my life.
Congratulations you two! I can’t wait for the big party next year! Until then, keep loving on each other every day. Hugs! Liz
