So sometimes fate is a funny thing….and history does tend to repeat itself in some instances… this blog is an example of that. It begins with the ceremony because someone slid through a stop light on the icy roads and hit my car on the way to the wedding… thus adding to the wedding photography curse of the bride’s family. Backtracking… at our meeting, her parents told me the story of how their wedding photographer called at the last minute to tell them he couldn’t make it to their wedding (he was also a crime scene photographer for the police station, and in fact, had to go shoot a crime scene!!) so he sent in a replacement for the wedding and that replacement tripped coming down the steps and accidentally exposed all of the film. Fortunately for me (and Melissa and Mike) I was uninjured in the accident and was able to make it to the wedding with only a minor delay (and a fair case of the shakes). The rest of the day, however, went off without a hitch and despite the cold, much fun was had and many lovely photographs were made (and survived to be seen!)
happy Melissa!
and just like that, they were married!
I love the lace at the top of the gown!
the girls were troopers… I would hold their winter coats, take a few photos, and then they would wrap back up and run for the bus!
they are doing splendidly at pretending to be warm!
the guys were unscathed
soft and pretty muted colors of winter…sigh
I kinda love this one.
and this giggle.
The reception was in the Champion’s Club at Busch Stadium, which looked eerie and beautiful covered in snow (as you will see later)
I also love out of focus lights. Thank you Christmas decorations for the built in prettiness!
Let the party begin.
I am all for it when things get a little crazy on the dance floor and the face this girl on the left is making is 100% priceless. Love it.
Snowy and oddly quiet and serene Busch Stadium
Thank you Melissa & Mike for letting me capture the fun, I apologize for any minor heart attacks had when I called about the accident…. I truly appreciate the kindness of the families and the wedding party, who were primarily concerned that I was alright. :) Thank you also for tromping around in the snow like a boss and having such a great attitude about it! with love, kate
