The year 2020…what the hell?! I have been happily toiling along and capturing memories as a professional wedding photographer since 2003, and this year marked the least work I have ever had in my career. BY FAR. I only photographed four full weddings throughout the year, and one was pre-covid…or at least before we knew it was here in the US and our world shut down. And another was a micro wedding with three hours of photo coverage. Which was absolutely beautiful but ugh. No one saw this coming. There was no way to plan for it, and as a small business owner whose livelihood depends on events, I am flat broke. Savings slowly dwindling away as I pay monthly rent on a studio that is sitting empty.
But here’s my takeaway. Now when we get even tiny little glimmers of joy, they are EXTREMELY JOYFUL!!! Every hug matters so much more than it did a year ago. Many things we took for granted now have meaning. My love for weddings has been renewed and strengthened! And this one brought back smiles on so many faces. You will see the joy around the room in each of these. Congrats to these two love birds! With love, Liz
