So you know how sometimes your friends get married and have a ‘tacky prom’ themed reception and you drive to Ohio with a group of other friends to photograph it and hilarity ensues?! Oookay, so maybe that’s just us. Liz and Steve were guests at the wedding, but of course you can’t stop either of us from shooting, so she brought a camera along and shot some too! :) Below is Steve Sloan (Liz’s husband & our trusty driver) looking quite silly in one of Wendy’s knitted creations. Liz and Steve and I arrived a day early to scout out Washington Courthouse OH and let’s just say we had ourselves some fun.
The town chiropractor is Washington Courthouse OH… Dr. James McCRACKEN!!! what?! perfect.
Here is Washington Courthouse courthouse.

Finally the wedding day!
prom tickets!
This is Sug. Sug is the world’s tiniest chihuahua. He has decided that this plastic dress bag is his.
the gown
and the prom queen (Wendy, of course!)
Wendy might be having too much fun. I think among all of the photos that in perhaps as many as 50% of them she,or Jay, or both, are laughing.
This is Weeble (and Sug) Weeble is small, but is colossal by comparison.
Wendy, you have never looked more fabulous.
Hi Jay!
A little rain will not stop the family parade to the courthouse. It may slow it down and make it more complicated with umbrellas being held over cameras by extra people, dogs being carried, and what not… but it WILL NOT stop it.
GIANT paper flowers and some slightly drippy signs made for the ceremony… the behind the scenes of me attempting to hold an umbrella over myself and shoot these in the rain was certainly quite a sight to behold, I’m sure.
paper corsages and bouts
The sun came out and friends banded together to dry the chairs just in time for the ceremony — on R, what tacky prom wedding is complete without some Flock of Seagulls hair?! Thank you Michael Bond for going there.
see… suddenly sun!
Jay looks pretty happy about the whole deal… Tommy remains skeptical (just kidding)
Edie was ordained by the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster as a Pastafarian Minister to officiate (Accept His Noodly Magnificence into your heart, into your soul, and ye shall forever be free. R’Amen) Don’t worry… it’s legit in the eyes of the law!
cute vows to the kids. Great idea!
Sug somehow gets to recess down the aisle too!
and below is what happens when you know the wedding party and you can say wildly inappropriate things to make them laugh.
Okay, so Wendy…. you know more about movies than most anyone… how do you fall for the dirty dancing move?!?
prettiness on the way into the park (also mosquito-yness and possible wet feet, but hey, who’s counting?!?)
Off to prom!
more of Wendy’s knit goodness
PROM dresses. Oh yes, I wore one too and it was LIME GREEN. No I will not be posting that image here (if you know me, it’s on my Instagram) Liz and Steve maintained some level of decency with their prom attire and actually looked quite cute!
these two.
sometimes what goes up DOES NOT come down as planned…. there was a ballon release planned and the string may have broken off leaving the balloons stranded on the ceiling…. carry on, nothing to see here….
but not to worry…. A man with a ladder can fix that!
REJOICE!
What after prom is complete without a little Strawberry Hill Boones Farm?!? None is the answer. In such circumstances, one may end up wearing a wrist corsage as a headband and being double kissed by your clients when you have all had way too much of the aforementioned beverage. Liz took this photo, but does not recall doing so. One *may* also NOT feel well the next morning and complain lot on the drive home (sorry Steve!).
Wendy and Jay, what can I say?! We had a blast and we love you both to pieces. Mad Dog 20/20 next time. xoxo, Kate & Liz
