I had a BUNCH of firsts at this wedding! It was the first time I had the opportunity to work with the fabulous Kristin Weis of Kristin Ashley Events. Kate has gotten to work with her more than once and has bragged on how awesome she is. Which I finally was able to experience first hand. :) This was my first time photographing a wedding ceremony in the Old Courthouse in downtown St. Louis. My first wedding reception on the Becky Thatcher Riverboat. However it was NOT my first time on said riverboat. My sweetie pie husband Steve proposed to me on that riverboat on New Years Eve surrounded by many of our closest friends. Ahhh…fond memories!
Beth and Ben are both lawyers which brings me to yet another first: their readings during the ceremony were actually historical court rulings and judges thoughts regarding marriage. Which may sound rather boring but take my word for it, was extremely cool! But my very favorite first of them all was how Beth and Ben decided to do their vows. Let’s see if I can explain this right. They wrote each other’s vows for the other to read. So Beth wrote what Ben read to her and Ben wrote what Beth read to him. It’s amazing what you can sneak in there when you are writing your significant other’s vows for them. Like I promise to love you even if you become a shoe hoarder. It was downright hilarious and touching all at once. I’m smiling just thinking back to it. Enjoy the photos!
How about these cool invitations printed on wood?! You can find these from M Haley Design!
Emily Miller of Delicately Bold finishing up Beth’s makeup. Beth has beautiful bright eyes. My boring brown ones are jealous.
I feel like shooting through the door like this makes it feel as if I am viewing a very private moment from afar.
Beth’s dad getting his first glimpse of her in her wedding gown.
And moving a few floors down to Ben and the guys! Kristin is an expert bow tie-er. Thank goodness someone was!
I like Ben. He’s happy. Happy people make me happy.
I lined Ben up for the first sight and he could hear Beth coming…just couldn’t wait for her to get there.
A few fun portraits before meeting up with the wedding party!
One of my favorites of the day. This one really captures their personalities the best!
Down to meet up with the wedding party for a few photos out and about downtown!
Love all of the smiles and laughter.
Just goofing around. :) They got tangled.
A skylight adds a little drama to this shot at the Old Courthouse.
Um, how cute are these little guys?! For the record, I sent the shot on the left to my parents and they 100% agree that the dark haired little flower girl with bangs looks expertly like me at that age. Which brings me to my next point…how cute was I?!
Pretty flowers by Becky Huffman.
Here comes the bride!
Such a different space for a ceremony. I love new and unique things!
Beth’s mom’s reaction below is my other favorite shot of the day. :)
Ben’s mom’s reaction wasn’t so bad either. :)
Lot’s of laughter during the vows.
And a tear or two.
Happily ever after!
And off to the boat!
Fun cake by the Cakery Bakery.
The wee little jacket cracks me up.
Twilight on the upper deck overlooking the river.
Time for toasts…
And a little dancing…
The Becky Thatcher and the Tom Sawyer docked side by side while the party continues inside.
Thanks for taking me along on the ride! I loved every minute! With love, Liz
