This has almost nothing to do with Cara and Pete’s gorgeous, colorful, classic St. Louis wedding, but you guys…Steve and I just moved last weekend! Not to worry, we are still in St. Louis. We relocated all of 5 miles away, but in this town that is a big difference. We have a completely new neighborhood to explore with unique architecture and a fun young vibe. That five miles feels like a whole new life awaits us. But it is totally bittersweet (at least to an emotional basket case like myself!)
This past month we celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary, and for real, where does time go? TEN years?! We bought that house 12 years ago. It was our first home together and we built our life in it. I will miss all of its character, the sweat and tears we put into it, but more than anything I will treasure the memories we made there. I am so sad to leave it behind and so excited for new things come. The dichotomy of emotions is astounding.
It honestly reminds me of how I felt 10 years ago when I was getting married. I remember feeling a little sad letting go of a younger me…one that had happy hours out with best friends 4 nights a week and stayed out dancing until 3am on the weekends. It was tough to let go of not really being my parents little girl anymore. But I was SO EXCITED to marry the love of my life and take on the world together one new experience at a time! I get to see my clients experience this range of emotions each weekend. Everyone has their own take on it…the things that are meaningful to them and the memories they treasure. So many of these come flooding back throughout the wedding day…and they are all important. I love that I get to be there to capture the new ones! Congratulations Cara and Pete!
PS – we had some random upload issues today and I’m having a tough time typing text between images, so for once, you are free of of continual ramblings. I also believe that these images and the hundreds of smiles below speak for themselves. :)
