When people tell me that they want to bring an old couch or a tandem bicycle to an engagement session I’m usually stoked to have something new and fun to play with! That being said, I also tell people not to “over-prop.” And by that I mean something like: us with our dogs, us with our dogs wearing signs, us holding a sign with our date on it, us drinking fizzy old time sodas with striped straws, us on a bike, us on a blanket, us in a boat, us blowing bubbles, us holding sparklers, us drinking wine, etc. Any one or two of those things is totally good on it’s own if it’s you, but don’t over do it! It’s totally fun for your engagement shoot to be a little stylized, but you can’t do every style in one shoot. We want YOU to be the focus of the photos rather than the things. But a bike and a couch? I’m totally in! And these two were so easy to shoot that we knocked out this whole shoot crazy speedy. I can’t wait for the wedding this spring! It’s going to be lovely!
Side note, I told these two this looked like a J. Crew ad. And then they told me that everything they were wearing was from J. Crew. And there you have it!
OMG we totally found a GIANT box turtle hanging out in Tower Grove Park. So cool! I went back the next day with Steve to see if we could find him again, but I think he found a new home after we scarred him a bit. ;)
