I know it doesn’t seem like it to the outside world, but this is a tough job we have. We love doing it…to be in this industry you have to love doing it, because it is TOUGH. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that other people don’t have difficult jobs. It’s not like we’re coal miners over here or anything, but our wedding and event industry peers truly work harder, longer, and with more riding on each make or break decision than most people I know. Every flower stem carefully placed, spot light focused, tough weather call made, extension cord packed, champagne glass polished, song loaded and ready, shutter speed chosen, tent staked, icing piped, hem line sewn, fork placed, fonts chosen, battery charged, bow tied…it’s only the beginning. I could do this for an entire epic novel worth of the careful thought, attention, stress and level of perfection we all hold ourselves to in this industry. For most of us this isn’t a job that we go to in the morning and turn off when we leave at 5:00 pm to head home to our families. It is very much entwined in our lives from the second we wake to the moment we sleep. Even then it tends to take over our dreams with nightmares of frozen cameras right before a first kiss or refrigerators filled with dead flowers on a wedding morning. It is all encompassing and not for the faint of heart. I have so much respect for my peers…you constantly amaze me with your dedication and talent. So often I feel like I am just trying to keep up…because mediocre is not acceptable for us. These are wedding days. Once in a lifetime memories.  The skill in which so many of you execute your crafts is mesmerizing to me. I just want you to all know that you are not alone, and your hard work has not gone unnoticed!
