I had a Friday wedding yesterday, so today is actually my work day to get all the normal stuff done…it’s throwing me off but I had to share these photos with you all as my fab 2017 models are about to graduate! And tomorrow is my first shoot with our new group for the class of 2018. So these ladies need a proper sendoff and congrats for finishing senior year!
Let’s start off with a little flashback of their group session in spring 2016…we always kick off a new year with our models with a day of hair and makeup and shooting all together! I shared a lot of the individual shots on our Instagram, but here’s some of the group! The talented ladies of Emily Miller Makeup styled the girls for this shoot :)
So cute!
Our shoot date happened to work out with the weekend the cherry blossoms bloomed too…perfect timing Mother Nature!
The sun was playing hide and seek though, so we had quite a mixture of light. Worth it for the flowers!
I also had the girls help me out with a couple of more styled mini sessions throughout the year. I wanted to try out some different things that I might not normally do during a regular session (in case they didn’t turn out. Luckily they all did ;))
First theme: Night photography! I pretty much always shoot senior sessions close to the golden hour, to get that warm sunset light. Shooting at night seemed like it had potential for some really cool dramatic shots though. Erica was kind enough to volunteer for this one, which we shot in late January. I swear it was mild for winter though! I went all black and white with these, just loved how different the light was versus my normal sunset shoot time.
Lots of drama with night lighting. My husband gave me a little help with the icelight too :)
LOVED this shot below on the left. You look like a pro model Erica!
This gives me Cinderella vibes <3
And of course twinkle lights. Can never say no to them!
Second theme: Photos with pets! Photographing pets can definitely be tricky, but I see engagement sessions all the time with them, so figured we should try some with a senior. Honestly I’m surprised I don’t get asked to do it more often! Sophia brought her darling pup Katie for these shots in Queeny Park. Would definitely suggest it to my future clients, they turned out so sweet :)
Third theme: Dance photography! I’ve worked with a lot of dancers over the last few years and it’s always fun to photograph some action shots. Selma as you’ll see is amazingly flexible so we got some really fun stuff!
Really liked the movement in the skirt and her hair on the right shot below.
A little backlight for a simple pose, and a big beautiful jump!
And the last theme: Prom! I’ve said it before, I love when girls bring their prom dress as one of their outfits for a session. So fun to wear it again (seriously wish I would have thought of that when I was a senior!) Also a good way to get a nice photo in your amazing gown without having to worry about coordinating schedules with thirty other people ;)
Ashley brought along two amazing dresses for us to play around with…first off the red.
Her sweet boyfriend Charlie joined us for a few shots too. What a good sport!
Pause while we switch up the fashion….this navy gown looked so good on you Ashley!!
LOVE the profile shot.
Hopefully these little themes give you some inspiration for your own photos…it was fun to shoot them outside the regular sessions, and as always thanks to my models for being willing to try anything with me!
And now it’s time to say again, one more time, the biggest best thank you to all of my class of 2017 models! Thank you for representing your class, I loved working with you all so much. Thank you for being a part of our L Photographie family. So glad to have captured this year with you all, and the best of luck in your college plans next year! – Meredith
