I LOVE Soulard. It is one of my favorite neighborhoods. Don’t get me wrong, I also love designer brands, a formal five course meal and all things shiny. But in my opinion none of those things have a place in Soulard. It has stayed exactly where it is meant to be. Every bar or restaurant is jeans appropriate, some are full on dives and others have patios overgrown with unmanicured nature, but at every last one of them you can enjoy a cold pint. It is unpretentious and fun. Not the high heeled kind of fun, but the back yard BBQ kind. No cosmos here, just stiff whiskey and cokes. I am always comfortable and happy there. I lived in the heart of Soulard for nearly four years and enjoyed every moment of it! Nothing is really out of the ordinary there. On any random Sunday morning I could be awakened by a New Orleans brass band marching through the street leading a group of circus performing drag queens 10 feet from my front door.
Ok, enough about Soulard. I’m feeling a little nostalgic today! It’s time to move into the present…a gorgeous spring engagement session in Soulard featuring the adorably fun Peggy and John! Their first date was at Hammerstsones, so that was a no brainer starting spot. After a couple of beers we headed out to wonder the streets of Soulard and found all kinds of awesomeness! Enjoy!
